History of the Upzone

The UpZone Youth Health Centre was established as a pilot project in 2005 between the St George Division of General Practice Inc, St George Youth Services and the former South Eastern Sydney Illawarra Area Health Service (SESIAHS) now South Eastern Sydney Local Health District.

Young people were involved in deciding on the name and logo for the project. The centre has grown over the years and now provides GP and sexual health clinics, psychological services and cannabis use counselling. These are coordinated by a on-site registered nurse.

The centre is available for young people up to 25 years who live, work or study in the St George area.

Aims

The UpZone Youth Health Centre aims are to:

improve young people’s access to youth friendly health services in the St George area and

to provide a ‘one stop shop’, addressing all health needs that are specific to young people
